Air Curtains

What is an Air Curtain?

an installed air curtain

An air curtain uses a wall of air generated by specialized fans to separate areas of pressure or temperature differential. A curtain of air seals itself around penetrating objects so, in effect, the door is both "open" and "closed" at the same time.

  • Seals out cold air at door openings while taking the warm inside air and recirculating it from ceiling to floor.

  • Seals in air conditioning and seals out hot, humid air to maintain a controlled environment.

  • Repels insects, prevents microorganisms from entering buildings and helps to maintain hygienic standards.

  • Prevents the infiltration of dust, dirt, and objectionable fumes from contaminating sanitary environments.

The photo above shows the power of the air curtain as a jet of CO2, simulating a powerful wind, is deflected and the penetrating blast of CO2 is stopped cold!

Wind Stopping
  • Enhances customer and employee comfort by recirculating interior air for a balanced temperature.

  • Offers invisible and unobstructed entrances to customers, employees, materials and equipment.

  • Offers highly effective filtration of toxic fumes, smoke, dust, dirt and odors when used with our optional filters.

  • Maintains positive pressure in clean room environments and eliminates the need for airlocks.

  • Supplements heating in the loading dock area.

Design Features

Air Curtains work year-round in all climates, under any conditions, to save energy while maintaining employee comfort.

  1. Prevents up to 90% of the energy loss that occurs at an opening, compared to an open door.

  2. Saves about ten units of energy for every one it uses.

  3. Offers an average payback period of about one year from energy savings alone.

  4. Qualifies for energy rebates under programs offered by many local utility companies.
