It is very space and cost efficient compared to traditional elevators because of its unique design. The Minivator requires minimal construction to install. The car rides on two steel guide rails mounted directly to a load bearing wall. The motor is housed at the top of the guide rails, requiring no overhead clearance into the attic. No pit or machine room is necessary like traditional elevators. All that is required is a 53" x 33" opening between floors. The Minivator has no hoistway, so when the car leaves one floor to serve another, it frees up valuable living space. Safety sensors on the top and bottom of the car prevent the lift from running when obstructions are encountered. |
